“Tea Clipper Serica 1863”

Tea Clipper Serica is a detailed area of a much larger painting, “On the River Min”. Robert Steele built Serica for James Findlay of Grennoch, in 1863. This was the last wooden tea clipper built by Steele. Her dimensions were 185.9 ft. by 31.1 ft. by 19.6 ft. This gave her a net tonnage of 708 tons. She was fitted with a half poop and four boats. The lower masts and their yards were of iron. In 1872, Serica left Hong Kong on November 2 for Monte Video, but was wrecked on the Paracels the next day; there was only one survivor.

This is a re-mastered art limited edition of 200 on conservation canvas. Each Image is printed individually, and to add further value and quality has been hand numbered and embellished by the Artist. This modern technology of reproduction is virtually the closest art form to the original painting. The image is printed in 8 colours with pigment inks, which are completely colourfast.
