Oliver's Hill, Frankston 1912
Oliver's Hill is one of the best known landmarks on the Mornington Peninsula. Nepean Highway in early days was just a dirt track wandering over Oliver's Hill. It took a full day to reach Portsea by horse drawn vehicle and would have been easier to travel by steamer either on the Ozone, Hygea or Weeroona.
Richard Linton's painting based on early photographs brings back the charm and atmosphere of a bygone era. The 1910 motor car heralds the coming of a new age; the little girl is off for a swim in what must have been a beautiful and idyllic spot.
This lithograph is available and is printed on heavy weight quality Archival paper using colour fast inks. These lithographs are strictly limited to 700 copies worldwide and upon their printing all production plates were destroyed.
